Winter Joy

So many of the other blogs I follow are showcasing pictures of the signs of spring where they live. I can only laugh because just outside my window there are NO signs of spring yet! We did get some rain recently but not enough to wash away any significant amount of snow!

I remember as a child the thrill of climbing to the top of mounds of snow like Piper is in this photo! Winter was always a wonderfully fun season. I try to look at it through my children's eyes now and focus on the good things this season holds and the lessons it can teach us. Complaints about it become tiresome quickly. Instead, why not think of this season as a blessing? Enjoy the peacefulness of a snowfall, the delight of zooming down a hill on a sled or skis and the beauty of the sparkling snow on the trees? I would dare to say that the more we attempted to dwell on the good things this season holds, the less grumpy we would be about it!

He sends his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly.
He spreads the snow like wool and scatters the frost like ashes.
He hurls down his hail like pebbles. Who can withstand his icy blast?
He sends his word and melts them; he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow.
Psalm 147:15-18
