Farmyard Finale!

This was our last week of all things farm-ish so we made sure to fill it with lots of farm animal fun!

We continued to do activities related to the letter 'C' like coloring this page from Homeschool Creations...

And this do-a-dot page from the same place...

And this tracing activity from Confessions of a Homeschooler!

Then took our toy pigs from a romp in the mud! Except it was REALLY good smelling mud - chocolate playdough to be exact!

The girls made footprints to create these cute little horsies!

Then Piper assembled this pig...

And later sponge painted him with brown paint to muddy him up!

She did some feather painting, which turned out to be really cool and extra fun since Mookie and Papa joined us for craft time that day!

Then we let a wind-up walking chick make his way through the paint! It was fun to see the tracks he made as he went along!

For a yummy farmyard snack, both girls helped me make haystacks!

They were very crunchy but delish!

Piper, my little puzzle addict, went right to work on these puzzles from Lawteedah. In a matter of minutes they were all completed!

She also sorted small, medium and large pigs, a printable from Musings of Me.
New vocabulary word: medium!

Piper found this Cheerios book that I had picked up for Taitum. She really wanted to do it so I grabbed some Cheerios for her and was amazed at how long this kept her occupied!

Correction: Kept them occupied! Tait worked on the Sunmaid raisin book then they traded! They make pretty sweet little classmates, don't you think?!

We're off to more Easter-y type adventures next week!
See you all then!

Sunny Days Make Me Smile!

This week was far too beautiful to stay inside! As a result, much of what I had planned got put on the back burner! I really must start planning our activities so that they can be done outdoors! Its so wonderful to watch the girls running and jumping and yelling and exploring outside! It makes me so happy to see them enjoy nature!

We blew lots and lots of bubbles!

Investigated the wild life (mostly ants and caterpillars!)....

And did lots of chalk drawings! This picture is Piper playing a chalk alphabet game, an idea I got from Elle Belle's Bows. I would make a letter's sound and she would hop to the correct letter! She LOVED this! (Especially the hopping part!)

Of course, our first field trip largely took place outside and was definitely the highlight of our week!

Inside, Piper worked on some pre-writing skills with printables from Musing's of Me's Farm Pack.

I also put together this little activity for Piper since she is becoming more and more interested with how letters make words. I put velcro on the back of the words and she had to put each word next to the corresponding animal!

She worked on tracing the letter 'C' in her paint trace bag as well as outside in the mud with a stick! That was all her idea and a great one!

She crafted a paper plate cow...

Piper also worked on matching these mama and baby farm animal cards from Lawteedah's Farm Life Unit Study. This was really great for talking about what the baby animals are called (ie. foal, piglet, calf, etc...) since this is new vocabulary for Piper!

A couple of my favorite pics from the week:

Daddy reading to his girls! :) (How could I not favour a picture of the 3 people I love the most in the world cuddling together on the couch?!)

And this...
A style all her own! I wouldn't have it any other way!

Hope you enjoyed our week as much as I did!

With A Cluck, Cluck Here....

This week we finally got more into our farm theme although we ended up mostly concentrating on chickens since Piper was just so interested in them! We also worked on the letter C (for cow or chicken!) and overall had a really great week together!

The letter C cut and collage (we added the cow to the printable).

We used many printables from Musings of Me's Farm Fun Pack including this one! Piper traced the word then went to the fridge and found the correct magnet letters to make the word! She LOVED this!

Piper stamped the letter C.

And pin poked it too!

She made letters in flour with her finger.

Here's letter C!

The most fun though was getting to vaccuum it all up!!
(Thanks to hands on : as we grow for the great idea!)

She also added the correct number of clothespin to each number card.

With the farmyard jumble (from Musings of Me) she found each letter that I called out and covered it with a stone.

She played with her farmhouse a lot!

One day she made a chick out of styrofoam balls attached with a toothpick.

Aren't they so cute?!

The girls had an egg and spoon race with plastic play-doh eggs!

Then cracked open the eggs and made little nests with mini eggs in them!

Piper made her own batch of cookies this week, too! She got all the ingredients out herself, measured and stirred, arranged them on the cookie sheet and popped them in the oven! She was very proud of herself and excited to share them with Boppa and cousin Emile when they came for a playdate! (It was a super good recipe too! You should try it!)

And their indoor picnic together was a success! Cousin Emile couldn't get enough of those yummy cookies!

Another day, Piper made a rooster!

She also planted a bean in a cup with damp paper towels so we could watch it grow! I wasn't sure this would work but...

A few days later, this is what we saw!!

That's a wrap for this week! Next week we'll hopefully get around to all the other animals that live on the farm!
